"This image is taken from the series “Tenha Orgulho”, which translates as “Take Pride”. For four years the photographer travelled around Brazil photographing the lives of her queer friends under the extremism of Bolsonaro. The portraits are intertwined with photographs of Brazil’s dramatic landscapes and flora, suggesting an interconnection between the oppression of sexuality and the oppression of nature (deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, destruction of the environment); as violences all rooted in a same patriarcal system."
